YOUTH IN THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE QUR’AN (Oleh; Muhammad Arif Yunus)

“The social role of youth in the Qur’an suggests the presence of youth can make changes if they have the spirit of da’wah and willingness to sacrifice such as youth figures who have been narrated in the Qur’an”

The development of civilization and culture, especially since the Science and Technology growing rapidly, has a lot of influence on the order of human life, whether they are positive or negative.

Indonesian director of Public Institute (IPI) Karyono Wibowo, said that the growing number of young people who fill strategic positions will burst the expectations of the birth of a breakthrough and change. The spirit of the changes brought young leaders would be a huge capital to create new more powerful Indonesia.

According to Karyono, the reform movement is a blessing for the young to come forward. The reform order has also succeeded in giving birth to young leaders who occupy positions of power.

Karyono rate this symptom as a positive trend of leadership change from the old generation to the young. A natural phenomenon that can not be avoided. That the previous generation will give birth to a new generation to continue the leadership. On the awareness of the role of the youth’s leadership,

Soekarno wisely said, “Give me ten young men then I will shake the world”. The wise sentence is full of philosophical meaning, that change is in the hands of young people. In addition, to realize intelligent Indonesian society, we must realize that it is not just a responsibility of the government, schools and teachers, but also a shared responsibility. He invited best sons and daughters of Indonesia, educated, accomplished and have the spirit to work as an elementary school teacher for a year and sent to remote areas of Indonesia.

Likewise with Prophet Musa, who is one of the prophets who have determination, the story much mentioned in the Koran. The young prophet Abraham, who is mentioned by the Qur’an in Sura. Al-Anbiya ‘(21): 60 as follows:

They said: We heard a youth make mention of them, who is called Abraham.

Ashābul Kahfi is a group of youth that is still fresh unwilling contaminated by authoritarians sound belief idolatrous. They then hid in a cave to avoid the cruelty of his people. Thanks to divine grace, they fell asleep for 309 years. But when they woke up, they just feel sleep a day. They had to know, what exactly happens when one of his friends to town to buy food.

Prophet Musa are people who have a position (leading) and an easy-inspired leader, so as to control the people who are so rugged. It is regrettable that the Qur’an is a book of religious treatise. It is not a history book, or a literary book. However, it must be admitted that it has many stories describing the story or history is revealed in the literary language is too beautiful. Activity interpretation of the Qur’an is an inevitability that do commentators in order to articulate the text with a certain reality. He serves as a reference to the Muslims in their problems.
